The area was being prepared in the 1980s to be a housing estate but the project was abandoned and the roads have fallen into dis-repair over the last 35 years. The area is completely flat with occasional small trees. A Free flight club has been maintaining the are we will use and we will have the longer grass bush hogged prior to the contest. We will have a PortaPotty delivered and plan to have a guard remain overnight at the site so we can leave winches out for the duration of the contest. Outlandings can be made quite safely in nearly all directions and we have no limitation on course setup direction.Being within a few miles of the ocean a sea breeze from the East is common by noon or early afternoon which is a gentle relief when we fly her in the heat of summer. For the Gator F3B contest we will expect the temperatures to be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s with low humidity and very little chance of rain.
This awesome flying site is approx 10 miles from Hotels and many amenities such as shopping etc. The attractions of Central Florida are nearby with Cape Canaveral Port and the Kennedy Space Center only 30 minutes away.
